UEFA EURO 2024 Munich: Travel And Accommodation

Travelling To Munich

Arriving In Munich By Plane

If you are planning to get to Munich by flight, you should become familiar with Munich’s two airports: Franz Josef Strauss Airport and Memmingen.-the first is the larger international while the latter is smaller domestic flights.

If you arrive at Munich’s main airport, the S1 and S8 S-Bahn trains will take you directly into down town Munich every 20 minutes. This trip takes about 45 minutes and costs less than 10 euros.

Arriving In Munich By Car Or Bus

The city is easily accessible by train, bus, and car (if you want to brave the German autobahn, that is…). If you are planning to travel from elsewhere in Europe, look to take trains that end at Munich Hauptbahnhof, right in the heart of the city. And make sure your bus journey ends at Munich’s main bus station, the ZOB.

Getting Around Munich

Public Transportation

One thing we love is the ease of getting around the city! Typically most destinations are walkable, but when not, our local public transportation system is a pretty easy way to get there.

Check out our full guide to using it for all the helpful details!

Getting To The Arena

You can get to the stadium via the S-Bahn from Munich Main Station or Munich East Station to Marienplatz.

From there, take the U6 underground line (towards Garching-HochbrΓΌck) to FrΓΆttmaning. The travel time from Marienplatz to FrΓΆttmanning is only about 15 minutes and then once you get off at FrΓΆttmanning and you’ll just have a quick walk to the arena!

Where To Stay In Munich

Located at the Intersection of Highway 99 and 9, there are a number of accommodation options available near the stadium itself:

Hotels

There, are of course, a multitude of hotel options to choose from during the games, but these three offer the closest comforts for comparable prices:

Hostels

And for hostels, we’d always recommend these city center options (they have the best reviews and deals usually!);
