Hello beautiful bored people of Munich! The sun is shining, the birds are chirping and the city is in full on summer mode! And this weekends upcoming events are jumping full force into that seasonal fun.

We are always so impressed on the amount of amazing free activities Munich offers in the summer months. This weekend is a fantastic example of some great activities and events our sunny city has to offer.

Live music, international extreme sporting events and open airs galore, check out our selection of favourites for you below!

Munich Filmfest, Live Events, and Festivals This Weekend in Munich

Munich Filmfest Opening 2022

Are you a fan of films or just looking to discover some great new cinema locations in Munich? Then we definitely recommend you check out the events in store for the 2022 Munich Filmfest!

Not only can you see a selection of hand picked, international films and series from around the world, but you can also see many in English or with subtitles!

The variety does not end there, unbeknownst to surprisingly many, the Munich Filmfest also provides a family friendly program with a great selection of children’s feature films, animations and short films.

When: June 23, 2022 to July 2,2022

Munich Opera Festival

Curious to get a bit more culture in the city? Why not join in the Munich Opera Festival!

This five week long series offer not only traditional opera, but an additional schedule of ballet, concerts and special programs for children to enjoy some of the best of Munich’s productions. You can find the full program details here on their website in English

When: June 24 to July 31, 2022

Where: Prinzregententheater, CuvilliΓ©s Theatre, National Theatre, St. Michael’s Church

Munich Mash at Olympiapark

This full weekend of full force sporting spectacles is finally back! Munich Mash is the cities annual international action sporting event you don’t want to miss.

From first class skateboarding to BMX and even wakeboarding, top athletes plan to show up and show off their best tricks. There will also be live music, a fun ‘cultural village’ to hang out in as well as a after party hosted by Red Bull. And the best part being…its free admission!

Jazz Brunch at Alte Utting

Have you ever enjoyed brunch with a serenading background soundtrack of live jazz… on a ship in the middle of the city? We have, often and would recommend it 100%!

Alte Utting is our favourite retired Bavarian steam ship. Curiously placed on top of a bridge in Munich, this location hosts a variety of food stands, cozy places to pass the time and of course, some amazing events with lovely live music.

Jazz brunch at Alte Utting is a regular Sunday event that is a must. Starting at 11 you can enjoy your breakfast aboard the ship with some cheerful tunes from the Malis Swing Connection.

When: June 26, 2022

Where: MS Utting on bridge Lagerhausstrasse, Lagerhausstraße 15

Cost: Free entry // Lots of great options to buy food and drinks to enjoy there

Youngsters Wildpark Poing

This special meetup group is a brand of Munich’s queer youth supporting organisation Diversity. The Youngsters group is a youth group for boys, whether you are gay, bi, queer or not quite sure yet, they provide a safe space and fun activities to spend your free time in Munich with like-minded people.

This event will be a trip to the local Wildpark Poing where you can see a variety of wild animals. From deer, bears and bald eagles to (of course) a petting zoo.

Make sure to bring some sunscreen, something to drink, a small brotzeit (snacks/picnic lunch) and be ready to make some great new friends!

When: June 26th, 2022

Where: Meetup is at the Diversity Youth Center at 12pm // Group leaves together at 12:30 for Wildpark Poing.

Cost: Free
