Beautiful bored people of Munich – let’s be honest……. the weather is NOT looking great this weekend.
But hey, while the forecast is looking pretty lackluster, the weekend’s schedule of events is anything but. With some of the year’s most anticipated events lined up for the next few days, it’d be a shame to stay inside…… right?
Pride season has hit Munich hard, and between the rainbow flags, colourful crosswalks and adorable traffic lights, the cherry on top of all festivities is happening this weekend: the Christopher Street Day Politparade and Street Festival! The parade will begin at 12pm on Saturday, concluding at Marienplatz, with the street festival happening all around the area with live music, info booths, drag queens, and even a live performance on Saturday from Eurovision winner Netta. Art lovers, take note – there will be over 140 events spread over 30 locations this weekend in honour of Munich’s art festival, Kunstareal-Fest! All sorts of musuems, galleries, and cultural institutions will be open for fun workshops, tours and lectures free of charge for the occasion. Click here for the full program.
Free admission to the Villa Stuck, along with lovely music, food and access to the museum’s historical rooms await at the annual Villa Stuck Sommerfest, which will happen rain or shine on Saturday! Looking for a furry new friend, or simply hoping to support a great cause? Well, head over to Munich’s Ignaz-Perner animal shelter this Sunday at their annual Sommerfest, which will include plenty of info stands, a large flea market, a raffle, food, pet accessory stalls and plenty of fun activities for the kids. It’s not a Munich summer without some Volksfest fun, and starting this weekend, one of the city’s best kept festival secrets is back in town, at Hirschgarten! The Magdalenfest is a tiny volksfest set in the heart of Hirschgarten, with rides, market stalls, and of course, BEER waiting for you amongst the sea of deer. If you’re looking for a fun and free kid-friendly activity to enjoy this weekend, look no further.
