Tollwood Sommerfestival 2019 Highlights: Things to Do
1. Enjoy live musical performances
One of the highlights of the Tollwood Sommerfestival every year is their musical line-up. This year, the Musik-Arena, which hosts concerts from international stars, will be hosting concerts from the likes of Walk Off the Earth, Toto, and Sting. Click here for a full list of performers.
Besides the Musik-Arena though, there will be tons of tents with performances all throughout the day, with acts from all around the world. Click here to see a full program.
2. Explore the Market of Ideas
Whether you’re shopping for yourself or trying to find the perfect gift, you’ll be spoiled for choice at the Tollwood Sommerfestival’s Market of Ideas, which will feature countless stalls selling fair trade goodies from decorative candles and scarves to leather shoes, bags and accessories.
3. Sample food from around the world
This year’s Tollwood Sommerfestival has over 50 organic food stalls representing 20 different countries from around the world… All your Tollwood favourites like Langos, burritos, and crepes will be back, so yes, we recommend you bring stretchy pants.
4. Watch an open air theatre performance
From cabaret and comedy to Cirque du Soleil-esque theatrical performances, there’s a huge variety of performances to enjoy this year at Tollwood. Click here to learn more about the line-up.
5. Thought-provoking art installations
It’s not a Tollwood festival without some thought-provoking and at times, confusing pieces of art. This year is no exception! From a 7m high loop constructed out of shopping carts to Bauhaus “Tiny House” you can explore, there’s plenty of pieces to keep you pondering 😉
6. Take advantage of the specialty children/teen programs
If you’re coming with kids in tow, there’s plenty for them to do too, from the littlest ones to the grumpy teens. There are plenty of free activities for kids of all ages, including educational programs like a children’s kitchen, and even graffiti/skateboarding workshops for your rebellious teens. While they skate, why not treat yourself to a cocktail?
