A beautiful Augustiner Weißbiergarten, live music, and tasty food stalls serving sausages, chicken, crepes and roasted almonds… Sounds like a hazy faraway dream, but you can actually find all this for the next few days in front of the Friedensengel, one of Munich’s most iconic landmarks!

What’s the occasion? From now until August 9th, the city is celebrating its Friedensengel Sommerfest (AKA the Friedensengelfest), which according to the official site here, aims to “draw attention to the fact that each of us can do something for peace”. The festival was first established in 1983 by the Förderkreis Friedensengel eV to support the restoration of the statue, and still continues today.

And while the Friedensengel is of course a popular spot for a sunset beer or two, enjoying it in a Volkfest-y setting is a rare opportunity. So, make sure to stop by and check it out. Here are the details…

Hours: Open daily from 11am to 10:30pm

Beer served: Augustiner

Important notes: Nose/mouth protection (i.e. masks) are required when not at one’s table
