Hello beautiful bored people of Munich! October is upon us and our fantastic city is welcoming it in with a whole bustling bunch of excellent events this weekend!

Are you interested in some art? treasure and trinkets in your neighbourhood? getting a great big run in or perhaps a fancy food truck fest? Well, we’ve got all that and more for you in this week’s event wrap up!

Free Events, Activities and Festivals This Weekend in Munich

This weekend is filled up with so many free events and great selections of activities for all ages. Have a look below to find your weekend plans in Munich.

Haus der Kunst // Free Entry Thursday

One of our favorite Munich facts; every 1st Thursday of the month is free at Haus der Kunst!

If you have not already visited this great contemporary art museum, we’d highly recommend it. Its free entry Thursday includes all current exhibitions open to everyone to visit from 6pm-10pm.

No prior ticket or registration is required, so simply pop on over and enjoy an evening in. The current

Modern Structures Art Exhibit

We’d liked to share this event intro by starting off with a big congrats to our our Bored in Munich community member Elliott for getting his art work showcased in our great city!

Elliott has only been living in Munich for the last (almost two) years and is now proudly having his work featured in the Siebenmachen Galerieladen in Giesing. His exhibit kicks off this evening from 6pm to 8pm, but the exhibit will continue to run until October 27!

European Street Food Awards

Gearing up to be the most exciting event on the street food calendar, the massive street food party will feature a celebrity judging panel and the big
Awards finale, plus guest DJs, and brilliant bars –Come join in for 3 days of fun, FANTASTIC food, and more!

After a long summer of 15+ countries battling it out for the title of best Europe’s best street food, the competition culminates this weekend at Sugar Mountain. The event kicks off on Friday October 7th at 5pm and runs throughout the weekend…the ideal duration to try out every delicious dish (aka our master plan).

In short, the event is simple and superb; come out and enjoy some fiercely good food (starting at 5€ and up per dish) then cast your vote for the best one and witness the awesome awarding on Sunday at 5pm.

ART MUC

Curious to get some cultural plans in this weekend? Well, lucky for you Munich’s largest contemporary art festival is kicking off this Friday!

With 3 days and 200 different artists, we can’t imagine what could make ART MUC any better…aside from the fact that not only is entry free for children under 16, but on each day the first hour of opening is also free entry!

So why not come support your local and neighbouring artists community in this great event this weekend. ART MUC kicks off Friday October 7th at 6pm.

Cost: Each day the first opening hour is free, after the tickets are 15€ (but free for children under 16!)

Neighbourhood Wide Flea Markets

Munich Events This Weekend: October 6-October 9, 2022

Ready to find some new treasures or trinkets in your neighbourhood? Then make sure to take a stroll around this Saturday as Munich’s city wide flea market makes its way to the neighbourhood of Nymphenburg.

Just follow the handy map above to explore your area and perhaps have a little rummage through your neighbour’s goodies. Of course (as we are still in Germany) cash is important to have, but it is neat to know that this year many people are set up to accept payments also through Paypal!

P.s those of you keen on thrifting but busy on Saturday, there will also be a neighbourhood flea market the following day in Gern to go by!

2022 Munich Marathon

Sunday is runday this weekend! This year’s annual racing event will not only be a full marathon but will additionally hold a half marathon, 10km run, relay race and even a tracht fun run. And not just along it’s scenic central track, but as well as virtually! How neat is that?

Sadly we wont be participating ourselves, but whether or not you are there is still a lot of fun to be had during this event (big applause for those of you gearing up to go!)
