Sports lovers, take note: Munich will be the host city for the European Championships in 2022, 50 years after hosting the Olympic Games back in 1972!
According to Muenchen.de, an application had been approved all the way back in June, but the contract has only now been finalized, confirming that Munich will be hosting the games in 2.5 years’ time.
The exciting event, often considered a “Mini Olympics” will feature over 4000 athletes from all over Europe competing for medals and glory in a variety of sports, including running, cycling, rowing, gymnastics, and still more to be announced.
Events will take place primarily at the Olympic Park (with a few sports using facilities elsewhere in the Munich area) from August 11 to August 21, 2022 – still a long way away, but close enough to get us excited for what’s to come!
