Here are the S-Bahn’s Newly Announced Timetable Changes

In response to a decreased demand caused by recent school closures and a growing number of home office workers, the Munich S-Bahn has made some adjustments to their timetable.

Firstly, the so-called TaktverstΓ€rker (additional trains meant to help ease traffic during peak periods) will be cancelled on lines S2, S3, S4, S8 from Monday, March 16, 2020 onwards. For those seeking more precise info/times, we’ll summarize them below:

S2 Schedule Changes

According to the official page here, the following trips on the S2 will be cancelled during rush hour:

    Direction Petershausen / AltomΓΌnster:

    • Ostbahnhof – Dachau, departure 6:11 a.m., arrival 6:41 a.m.
    • Ostbahnhof – Dachau, departure 07:11 a.m., arrival 07:41 a.m.
    • Ostbahnhof – Dachau, departure at 4:11 p.m., arrival at 4:41 p.m.
    • Ostbahnhof – Dachau, departure 5:11 p.m., arrival 5:41 p.m.
    • Ostbahnhof – Dachau, departure 6:11 p.m., arrival 6:41 p.m.

    Direction Erding:

    • Dachau – Ostbahnhof, departure 6:19 a.m., arrival 6:50 a.m.
    • Dachau – Ostbahnhof, departure 07:19 a.m., arrival 07:50 a.m.
    • Dachau – Ostbahnhof, departure 08:19 a.m., arrival 08:50 a.m.
    • Dachau – Ostbahnhof, departure 5:19 p.m., arrival 5:50 p.m.
    • Dachau – Ostbahnhof, departure 6:19 p.m., arrival 6:50 p.m.

    S3 Schedule Changes

    According to the official page here, from March 23 – April 17, 2020, certain TaktverstΓ€rker will be cancelled on the S3 lines between Maisach and Deisenhofen.

    Other Train Changes/Cancellations

The official announcement from Muenchen.de here also noted a few other changes/cancellations frequent commuters should be mindful of:

  • Some commuter-amplifier trains on the MΓΌhldorf-Munich line will also be canceled on the SΓΌdostbayern-Bahn
  • Trains from MΓΌhldorf to Salzburg will end in Freilassing
  • The GΓ€ubodenbahn is operated according to the holiday schedule.
