Deutsches Theater
For those who want to enjoy a night on the town, the Deutsches Theater is the place to go. With a variety of different performances ranging from musicals, plays, operas, dance, music and more, English performances are also on the playbill.
Dating back to 1896 when it first opened, the Deutsches Theater is deeply rooted in history. Nicknamed βThe Fairy Palace,β due to its Neo-Baroque style, the theatre showcases national and international productions throughout the year.
Boasting 1,679 seats in the main auditorium, the theme βLady in redβ awaits you upon entering the main theatre area. But even before entering the main stage, viewers can enjoy drinks and snacks in the foyer before the start of the performance as well as during intermission.

Amerikahaus
Interested in a bit of culture along with your theatre? Amerikahaus is first and foremost an education and research centre that informs the public about the importance of the transatlantic relations between Bavaria and North America. Events and exhibitions on such international matters occur throughout the year.
However, Amerikahaus also houses a theatre with 307 seats with English theatre performances performed mostly in collaboration with the America Drama Group Europe.
A popular spot for many students in Munich, performances range from classics such as Hamlet, Animal Farm and A Christmas Carol to more current productions such as The Wave.

MΓΌnchner Kammerspiele
Though advertised as a German-language theatre company, the MΓΌnchner Kammerspiele is an avant-garde masterpiece that dates back to 1926. The last art-nouveau style theatre in Germany, big names from both national and international theatre fame have graced the stage.
Luckily, English-theater goers do not have to feel left out. Since the 2015/16 season, a variety of performances include English subtitles.
Confronting current matters on stage, this theater is aesthetically innovative and contemporary, with a socio-political focus.

Bake This
Are you in need of some laughter in your life? Do you have suggestions for what the actors should perform? Then look no further than Bake This, Munich’s International English Improv Comedy Troupe.
Taking suggestions from the audience to inspire scenes, stories and songs on the spot, Bake This fully improvises their shows and are even known to create entire musicals.

Entity Theatre
Over 20 years of English theatre performances in Munich, Entity Theatre is a non-profit community theatre company that is volunteer-driven. Comprised of a diverse group of global members, they are passionate about theatre.

East & West Encounter (EWE)
An English-language theatre group based in Munich, the roots of its two founders come from East (India) and West (France). Having only recently been created in 2021, EWE has successfully delivered three plays since then which have received critical acclaim.
Bringing together non-professional actors, directors, stage artists and technicians who share a similar passion for contemporary theatre, EWE produces plays which promote new and diverse voices.

Residenz Theater
As part of the famous Munich Residence, the Residenz Theater, or Bavarian State Theatre, is one of the most modern stages in Germany. Coming from a difficult history, due to it being rebuilt after the Second World War when money was tight, it soon became a society favourite with Munich locals, who refer to it as the Resi.
One of the most traditional theatres in Germany, the theatre boasts an ensemble of over 50 actors and more than 450 employees. Focusing on contemporary drama with world premieres and new works alongside the cultivation of a classical repertoire, all theatre goers can enjoy a performance in this historical theatre.
Luckily, English natives donβt have to miss out attending a show at this famous theatre thanks to English subtitles.
