We can’t lie to you, Seehaus (found in Munich’s massive English Garden) is one of our favourite beer gardens in the entire city. From its scenic lakeside location to its chill, relaxed vibe, it’s one of our go-tos when the sun finally makes an appearance.

Seehaus Beer Garden: A Quick Overview

Located by the Kleinhesseloher Lake in the English Garden, Seehaus is a scenic and atmospheric little beer garden that you can’t miss in Munich. Snag one of the coveted waterside tables and watch the sun come down with a mixed bag of (mostly) locals – from young professionals and couples to joggers and retired Bavarians eager to strike up conversation.

Seehaus has food options available, and although the selection isn’t massive, all the Bavarian beer garden classics like Obatzda, chicken and pretzels are well-represented.
Overall vibe and crowd at Seehaus
Another big draw of Seehaus (besides the view) is that the crowd is a LOT more local than the nearby Chinese Tower beer garden. While you do get some tourists who come here, the majority of the happy drinkers are chirpy locals who know where the better spots are 😉 It’s a pretty mixed crowd though, from young professionals grabbing a post-work beer and joggers taking a break, all the way to sharply dressed (older) Bavarians there solo. The atmosphere is lovely though, with pretty overhead lights strung like a canopy over parts of the garden, and of course, beautiful lakeside views.
How to get to Seehaus
Take Bus 54, 68 or 154 to the Chinese Tower and walk over to Seehaus (it takes about 12 minutes).

Get here at sunset
Seehaus is definitely one of the best places in Munich to catch the sunset. If coming on a weekday, don’t come too late as it tends to get very packed after work hours.
Pay attention to special events
There are always lots of fun things happening at Seehaus, from public viewings of important sporting events to even free concerts from internationally renowned musicians.
The washrooms are a short walk away from the main beer garden area – just follow the signs
Also bring change, there are washroom attendants there to tip 😉
