This gorgeous rooftop bar (open exclusively in the summer) is the perfect place to sip on some cocktails while admiring views of Munich’s Old Town, with classic staples of the city skyline like the Frauenkirche and Neues Rathaus in view.

The cocktails here are delicious (albeit a little pricey), but with views like these, you really can’t go wrong!

Not even a hop away from Fraunhofer station, you’ll find Flushing Meadows hotel.

Don’t less this unassuming spot fool you – head up to the fourth floor for a low key, unpretentious rooftop terrace for a chic summer sundowner and enjoy the views that sweep over the Glockenbachviertel and all the way to the Alps.

A fancy rooftop bar set atop one of Munich’s fanciest hotels, with an awesome view over Old Town (the Frauenkirche specifically!)

Naturally, the prices here aren’t cheap but the views are some of the best you’ll get in town.

A little touristy, but for good reason – the views here overlooking Marienplatz and the Neues Rathaus are gorgeous.

And while the outdoor terrace itself doesn’t boast these views (only indoor seating overlooks Marienplatz), you get awesome views over colourful Old Town all the same.

Smack right in the middle of the Viktualienmarkt action, Louis Grillroom is your chic, upmarket option to catch a few rays.

The terrace is spacious, lush with greenery and feels like a private, quiet neighbourhood haunt – it almost feels cheeky to enjoy the excellent seasonal fare fresh off the grill (with a well-picked vino in hand of course).

She’s a bit more upmarket and boasts both a courtyard and a terrace, this heritage protected artist house is our favourite spot to take a date (or a good mate).

Commanding sweeping views over the historic Olympic Park – this is our favourite daytime tipple spot to relax, enjoy some tunes, and a simple but tasty food menu to go with your spritz.

We’d recommend making the most of the park (head out on a row boat for a bit of a laugh) – or note this down as a perfect aperitivo spot before a concert in the stadium.

Transit is an amalgamation of industrial containers, colour, good views, and good vibes – located in the Werksviertel near Ostbahnhof, Transit is the perfect spot to kick off your weekend.

Here you’ll find delicious drinks on tap, themed seating areas and DJs spinning some chilled out tunes. With an extensive menu and plenty of space, Transit is a great place to meet friends of if you’re looking to head out with a larger group.

It is a popular spot for good reason, pro tip: make a reservation if there are a few of you heading out.

If you’re after elevation in every sense of the word – head up to the roof of the locally run hotel Haus im Tal.

This is an easy spot to miss – head through the understated grey stone door and up to the 5th floor where clean lines and delicious drinks await you. We’d recommend heading for Sunday brunch from 11am and enjoying some sweet tunes along with your mimosa.

If you’re looking for an extensive wine menu and modern Italian fare – look no further than cafe Ruffini.

Best enjoyed as a reward post stroll of Grunwaldpark – intimate, cosy and a great spot for those β€˜in the know’ – head for Sunday brunch and go hard on the home made bread.

A select couple of days a month, MH5 throws the doors open to its glorious rooftop for those looking to dance the night away with our favourite panoramic backdrop of Munich.

Perched on top of the Werksviertel, the β€˜roof’ spreads over a whopping 3 floors (the 6th and 7th floor terrace are outdoors) – our favourite pit stop is the pool on the top floor.

Make sure you check their socials to catch a renowned international DJ and cut shapes all night long.

At the top of the Andaz Hotel on Schwabinger Tor you’ll find Munich’s highest rooftop bar Muniqo. Spread over 2 floors with 360 views over the city skyline to the alps.

Head in after 7pm on a weekday to enjoy their Champagne and Marghertia combo – this is our top pick for views on views on views.

Get here bright and early for a stunning view of the city. No reservations allowed and for good reason, Kulturdachgarten is the place to be for rooftop drinks with a view!

Their website is currently under construction so menu items are a surprise for now.

The Fitzroy is an Australian sun soaked kitchen-slash-bar nestled into the Werkstatviertel.

The kitchen and bar are all the way up on the 14th floor are stunning for a light bite, but head up one floor further for a lush open air terrace and the ice, ice baby bar suspended over the streets.

Rooftop Bars In Munich: Die KΓΌche im Kraftwerk

The roof terrace in the old Kraftwerk building south of SΓΌdpark marries old world glamour with industrial design in this former power plant.

We are big fans of the extensive menu (both in terms of food and wine – order plenty of both for a delightful time).

If you’re looking to reach lofty new heights in terms of metres and exquisite eats, we strongly recommend checking out Mural.

Boasting a Michelin star, Mural is light and bright and exudes scandi eco chic and a farm to table seasonal menu. Sit amongst the rooftop kitchen gardens and luxuriate.

The vibe here is Modern Bavarian fairytale with its cosy corners and quirky details – but more importantly now that the sun has deigned to show her face –  it’s open season on the Rooftop Garden. A sun-drenched deck and copious amounts of greenery awaits you.

With stunning views of the Cornelius, Reichenbach & Wittelsbacher bridges, Frau im Mond boasts the elegance of academia and the views to match.
