Beautiful bored people of Munich, it’s time to dust off the costumes and get ready to boogie – Fasching festivities have begun!
On Sunday, February 24, 2019 at the 13th minute of the 13th hour (um, AKA 1:13pm), Munich will be kicking things off with its annual Faschingsumzug der Damischen Ritter parade, which has been kicking off Fasching fun in style since 2006.
Imagine colourful floats, musical performances and more, from 42 different groups who will be walking a parade route from Sendlinger Tor to Sparkassenstrasse……. and an after party at the Hofbräuhaus!
The Parade Route
According to Muenchen.de, the starting point of the parade is the Herzog-Wilhelm-Strasse at Sendlinger Tor. They’ll continue down to Karlsplatz, go through Karlstor, then Neuhauser Straße and Kaufinger Straße until they hit Marienplatz . Then onwards to Hofgraben, Pfisterstraße and then finally, Sparkassenstraße .
