There’s never a bad time to eat ice cream, but with the summer heat as scorching as it is, well… now’s certainly a pretty good time.
And you know what else is a good time? MUNICH’S ICE CREAM SCENE! From Instagrammable treats and traditional scoops to bio-vegan goodness, here are some of THE best Munich ice cream spots you need to check out:
1. IceDate
Address: 91 Amalienstraße
Ice cream that’s both vegan AND organic? The team at IceDate scoops up exactly that – ice cream made of 100% natural ingredients like dates, cashew cream and frozen fruit, with no artificial additives or added sugar. Oh, and they have ginormous cones that look like this:
2. IceGuys.Munich
Address: Hohenzollernstraße 25
These new kids on the block serve up some of the coolest looking soft serve in the city, with pitch black cones made with activated charcoal.
3. Der verrückte Eismacher
Address: Amalienstraße 77
Delicious ice cream in a funky Alice in Wonderland-themed setting. The staff here are super friendly and willing to dish out samples, especially for the weird flavours they do on rotation (such as Augustiner beer, doner and more).
TIP: It’s a little pricier, but the berry champagne flavoured ice cream here is unreal.
Amalienstraße 77
4. Ballabeni
Address: Theresienstraße 46
The line-ups here may always be long, but that’s because it’s one of the best Munich ice cream places, beloved by locals and visitors alike. Found just around the corner from some of the city’s major museums, this is the perfect place to grab an icy treat after sightseeing (if you don’t mind the wait, that is).
5. True & 12
Address: Rosenheimer Str. 14
This little, unassuming shop is known for having some of the best ice cream in Munich (after all, it’s #1 on Tripadvisor for a reason!) Serving up delicious artisan ice cream with creative flavours, the handmade quality here is next-level.
6. Sarcletti
Address: Nymphenburger Str. 155
With a wide variety of cake and ice cream, this eiscafe also offers up beloved ice cream creations like spaghettieis 😉 Be warned though: service here is notoriously frosty.
7. Jessas Eis
Address: Klenzestraße 97
Found in the heart of Glockenbachviertel, this shop offers a mix of conventional and creative flavours, served of course in the cutest little waffle cups.
8. Amorino
Address: Schützenstraße 7
Sure, Amorino is a chain, but it’s one of the best ice cream chains in the world, which is why it still makes our list. While the flavours and textures are always on point here, the best part is the creative presentation: rose-inspired gelato cones. Does it get any better?
9. Frogi’s Frozen Yogurt
Address: Inside Karlsplatz Stachus
Sure, it’s not exactly ice cream, but frozen yogurt can often be a healthy-ish alternative to our beloved eis, and we couldn’t omit Frogi’s adorable bubble waffle cones from the list. I mean, just look at them:
